UKSIMDEALS
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 May 2026
UKSIMDEALS (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share personal data when you visit our website or use our contract-switching services, in accordance with UK data protection law including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who We Are
UKSIMDEALS operates the UK SIM Deal website and related switching services for UK mobile contracts. For the purposes of data protection law, UKSIMDEALS is the data controller responsible for your personal data collected through this website unless we inform you otherwise.
If you have questions about this policy or wish to exercise your rights, please contact us using the details in Section 14 below.
2. Personal Data We Collect
We collect personal data that you enter on our website forms and during the online application process. Depending on the plan you apply for, this may include:
- Identity and contact data – full name, delivery or billing address, post code, and email address (collected on all application forms);
- Mobile and account data – mobile telephone numbers; preferred or previous network provider; usual monthly mobile bill amount (new SIM orders); and answers to SIM & network questions on the new SIM order form;
- Security and verification data – for switch applications (phone and SIM, SIM-only, and pay-as-you-go), information submitted in our Security check section, including whether your account has a PIN or password, the PIN or password if you choose to provide it, recent bill or top-up amounts and dates, and your last number called, to help verify your account with your current provider;
- Payment data – cardholder name, card number, expiry date, and security code (CVV) entered on our payment pages, together with your agreement to post-trial billing as shown for your selected plan;
- Application reference data – plan type, submission date, and a reference number shown on our confirmation page;
- Technical data – IP address, browser type, device information, and similar log data that may be recorded by our hosting or security systems when you use the website (see Section 9);
- Communications data – if you contact us, records of your enquiry and our response.
We collect this information directly from you when you complete our online forms. We do not ask for date of birth or PAC/STAC porting codes on the standard application forms published on this website. We may receive additional information from network partners, credit reference agencies, or fraud prevention agencies where required to assess eligibility or complete your switch.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use personal data to:
- Process and manage your contract switch or new SIM application, including reviewing submissions within the timeframe stated on our confirmation page (typically 24–48 hours);
- Verify your identity and account details using the Security check and SIM & network information you provide;
- Save your payment method and arrange billing after the three-month free period in line with your selected plan (£10 per month for qualifying SIM-only, pay-as-you-go, and new SIM plans, or £10 per month for your SIM plus 50% off your phone payment every month — over or under 18 months remaining on your contract plan — for phone and SIM plans, where applicable);
- Share relevant details with UK mobile network operators and their partners to complete porting, activation, or delivery of your SIM;
- Communicate with you about your application, plan, delivery, and support queries;
- Improve our website, services, and customer experience;
- Prevent fraud, money laundering, and unauthorised use;
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract – processing necessary to perform our agreement with you or to take steps at your request before entering a contract;
- Legitimate interests – improving services, security, and fraud prevention, balanced against your rights;
- Legal obligation – where we must retain or disclose data to comply with law;
- Consent – where you give clear consent, for example by ticking a payment or billing agreement checkbox on our payment page.
5. Sharing Your Information
We may share personal data with:
- UK mobile network operators and their authorised partners to complete your switch;
- Credit reference and fraud prevention agencies;
- IT, hosting, CRM, and payment service providers under strict confidentiality terms;
- Professional advisers (lawyers, accountants) where necessary;
- Regulators, courts, or law enforcement when required by law.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties for their independent marketing purposes.
6. International Transfers
Your data is primarily processed within the United Kingdom. If any service provider transfers data outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations, International Data Transfer Agreements, or equivalent approved mechanisms.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, including to satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
Typical retention periods include: active customer and application records for the duration of your relationship plus up to six years thereafter for legal and tax purposes; and technical logs for up to 24 months unless a longer period is required for security investigations or disputes.
8. Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Request erasure in certain circumstances;
- Object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances;
- Request data portability where processing is based on consent or contract and carried out by automated means;
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent;
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
We may need to verify your identity before responding. We aim to respond within one month, which may be extended for complex requests as permitted by law.
9. Cookies, Session Storage & Similar Technologies
Our application and payment pages use your browser’s session storage to support the checkout journey. For example, we temporarily store your name between the application form and payment page, and store your plan type and reference details for the confirmation page. This information is held locally in your browser and is generally removed when you close the browser tab or window.
We do not currently set analytics or advertising cookies on this website. If we introduce optional cookies in future, we will update this policy and, where required by law, obtain your consent before they are set.
Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which may cause your browser to connect to Google’s servers. Google may process technical data in connection with font delivery under its own privacy terms.
Our hosting provider may also record standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability. You can clear session storage and other site data through your browser settings; doing so may prevent the application flow from completing correctly.
10. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include secure hosting, access controls, staff training, and encryption where appropriate. Because our forms collect sensitive verification information (such as account PINs or passwords where you choose to provide them) and payment card details, you should only submit applications on a device and network you trust, and you should not share your reference number or verification details with anyone else.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children
Our services are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us so we can delete it promptly.
12. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to network providers or other third-party sites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing personal data.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The “Last updated” date will reflect the latest version. Significant changes will be highlighted on our website where appropriate.
14. Contact Us
For privacy enquiries or data subject requests, contact UKSIMDEALS through our homepage, Switch & Save page, or by quoting your application reference number from our confirmation page if you have already applied.
You have the right to contact the ICO if you remain dissatisfied after raising a concern with us.
